NEW MIAMI MUSEUM TO FEATURE HEALTH GALLERY IN RESPONSE TO EBOLA CRISIS:

Earlier Tuesday, President Barack Obama met with Dr. Brantly (Ebola surviver) and his wife, Amber, in the Oval Office to announce more efforts by the U.S. to lead a global battle against the spread of the deadly virus.

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — When the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science being built in downtown Miami opens in 2016 it will have a special gallery which will focus on health.

Baptist Health South Florida is giving the museum $5 million for health and wellness programs. Some of thefunding also will pay for transportation for Miami-Dade County public school students to visit the museum.

Museum President and CEO Gillian Thomas says the Baptist Health People & Science Gallery will teach people “how to make better choices for a healthy life.”

Officials say the gallery will allow visitors to use technology to explore different lifestyle choices. It will include zones highlighting the psychology of eating, meditation techniques, body language, brain functions and technology for prosthetics and surgery.

Whaling United StatesJapan’s controversial whaling operation is set to be the focus of the 65th meeting of the International Whaling Commission in Slovenia.

The meeting will be attended by delegates from across the world who will discuss three proposed amendments to current regulations, as well as state their positions on the issue of whaling.

Chaired by Jeannine Compton-Antoine, IWC commissioner for St Lucia, this year’s event will see pro-whaling and anti-whaling nations gather to discuss issues.

The IWC was set up under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling signed in 1946. It is the global body in charge of the conservation of whales and the management of whaling.

In 1986, the commission introduced zero catch limits for commercial whaling – a provision still in place today.

Los Morrillos Light, also known as Faro Los Morrillos de Cabo Rojo, is a historic lighthouse located in the municipality of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.

~~History~~

Located at the southwestern tip of the island of Puerto Rico, this lighthouse was constructed in 1882 in order to guide passing ships through the southeast entrance from the Caribbean Sea through the treacherous Mona Passage into the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is located over a white lime cliff which is surrounded by salt water lagoons and marshes. The cliffs surrounding the lighthouse drop over 200 feet into the ocean.
